Sutton's own food bank, which can provide three days of food for people in need, was officially launched by Sutton's Deputy Mayor Cllr John Leach, on Saturday at the Salvation Army Church in Benhill Avenue, Sutton.
The Food Bank is run by local churches, with support from a range of organisations including schools, Sutton Council and the Big Yellow Storage.
Local MPs Tom Brake and Paul Burstow both attended the launch.

Tom said, "The Sutton Food Bank has gone from an idea to a reality within a matter of months. It is a fantastic example of a hands-on project, devised by the churches, supported by the wider community which makes a real difference to people's lives."
Paul added, "The fact the Food Bank has been set up so quickly is testament to the hidden need there is.
"This is Christian mission in action. The fact that it has brought Christians together from all traditions shows how powerful the call to service can be."
Tom and Paul are both participants in the Food Bank project.
