Local Lib Dem MP, Paul Burstow, used a debate in the House of Commons last week (16 December), to criticise a 'biased' Ofsted report of Robin Hood junior school.
Mr Burstow told the Commons of the potential damage done to the reputation of the school, by a misleading Ofsted report. The inspection was lead by a novice Inspector, and only used one year of data to formulate the report instead of the standard three. Mr. Burstow argued that the Inspector took a predetermined view of the Robin Hood junior school which lead to conclusions that were out of step with the view of local education authority or the views of the school itself.
Mr. Burstow challenged the Minister: "Where is the accountability, quality control and robust independent complaints procedure, and how can we accept a situation in which damage can be done to a school's reputation by a rogue Ofsted report? I am concerned that the school could be done harm by the process. I have been delighted by how the school and parents have worked together and by the fact that the school has reassured parents, not least because it has been so robustly supported by the local education authority".
In addition to the action taken by Mr. Burstow in the House of Commons, he also wrote a letter to the Chief Inspector on behalf of the school. The response was unsatisfactory failing to provide answers.
