Local MP Paul Burstow has presented a petition to Parliament on behalf of the residents of Green Lane pressing the Government to provide money for a scheme to alleviate the flood risk from the Beverly brook.
Following the torrential rain of July 2007 which caused significant damage in this area of Worcester Park, the Environment Agency has proposed a scheme to prevent any future flooding.
The project would cost an estimated £1.5 million and Mr Burstow is petitioning the Government for it to be implemented as soon as possible.
'Residents of Green Lane want an end to their water misery. Now we have a practical proposal from the Environment Agency to solve the problem all that remains is for the Government to give the green light for the money.
'I will be doing everything I can to put pressure on the Government, before the summer recess, so we can get this problem sorted once and for all.'
