Paul Burstow MP has welcomed the Royal Mail's long-awaited decision to reinstate Cheam as a postal district.
Mr Burstow has long campaigned for Cheam to be its own postal district once again. However previous efforts have been swamped by bureaucracy and the consultation process has had to be undertaken twice due to delays by the Royal Mail.
After this second enquiry and having received the backing of the Council and Chamber of Commerce once more, all that remains is to seek the opinion of those whose addresses will be affected.
Paul Burstow MP commented:
'This has been a long time coming. There has been one bureaucratic hurdle after another. After so many delays and complications we have finally received the official green light to reclaim the Cheam identity.
'People in Cheam have rallied round this campaign not once, but twice so it's a victory for them over bureaucracy. We have our address success - the right result at last.'
