Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, today presented prizes to pupils from across the borough at the final of the Binge Too Far project, for their short films on the dangers of binge drinking.
12 short films were shown at Sutton's Empire Cinema as a part of a partnership project between Sutton Council, the police and Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust.
Mr Burstow presented prizes to the winners of the three age categories for their films on alcohol-related themes which will be screened in the St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton on Saturday and during trailers at Sutton Empire on Saturday 11th April.
Speaking after presenting the prizes Mr Burstow said:
'Underage drinking is a serious problem in our country but these young people have done a fantastic job at warning their peers of the dangers of binge-drinking in their excellent short films.
'The quality of the presentations was exceptional and I offer my congratulations to the winners and to all who took part and displayed impressive talent, enthusiasm and effort.'
