Think again, urges MP

July 5, 2005 3:01 PM

Local MP Paul Burstow today expressed support for people with dementia and their carers in Sutton and Cheam in the run up to Alzheimer's Awareness Week.

The theme of the week which will run from 3 to 9 July 2005 is 'Think again' when the Alzheimer's Society will be focusing on the issues that affect younger people with dementia. These include financial and employment issues.

Paul Burstow commented:

'I am very happy to be supporting the Alzheimer's Society during Alzheimer's Awareness Week. When we think of dementia we usually think of older people but it is important to remember that dementia can affect anyone at any age.'

More than 770 people living in Sutton and Cheam have dementia and more than three times that number will be affected by the consequences.

Neil Hunt, Chief Executive of the Alzheimer's Society said:

'I'm delighted that Paul Burstow is supporting Alzheimer's Awareness Week. The week will invite us to think again about how we should be supporting younger people with dementia and their families.'

If you are a resident of the Sutton and Cheam constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
