Mental health problems must be addressed: Burstow

Commenting on the report by mental health charity Rethink, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, Paul Burstow said:

"This report highlights the sad fact that the needs of people with severe mental illness have been shamefully neglected. A Government obsessed with targets and headline statistics has ignored the plight of thousands of people with mental illness which should be treated as seriously as physical illnesses.

"This toolkit is to be welcomed. It will help people with mental health problems have more control over their health and their healthcare. The Liberal Democrats would ensure that organisations work together to fit services around people's lives, rather than forcing people to fit their lives around the services they need."
