Commenting on reports by the John Moores University, which show that a 'promiscuous 10%' of the population who have multiple partners are fuelling a UK sexual health crisis, Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, said:
"These infections do not just affect a few. It is essential that the Government gets the message across to everyone about the consequences of unsafe sex. "Derogatory labelling could prevent people seeking help. Stigmatising those who seek help could drive the problem underground instead of solving it.
"The real answer has to be better education about relationships and sex, and more readily accessible sexual health clinics, where people can receive speedy diagnosis and appropriate treatment."
