Burstow and Brake hold public meeting to seek residents' views on local hospital plans

Paul Burstow MP and Tom Brake MP will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday 5th October at 7pm in Meeting Room 2 at the Civic Offices in Sutton.
All local residents are invited to attend and find out more about the NHS plans to close down one of the main hospitals and deliver more health services via GP surgeries and new local hospitals. The Chief Executive of the Primary Care Trust, Ian Ayres, will be available to answer questions.
These plans will mean a radical shake-up to the way healthcare is delivered in the London Borough of Sutton and the MPs are keen to have the views of local residents.
Paul Burstow MP said:
"What people want is good quality healthcare closer to home. But I have serious concerns about the locations of the new main critical hospital and the proposed local care hospitals.
"Residents deserve a lot more detail about the locations of the local hospitals. Also access for patients, relatives and staff is a very important issue and I will be seeking assurances from the NHS managers that these proposals are really in the best interests of my constituents".
"St Helier hospital is in old buildings that are past their best. What is required is a new hospital for the 21st century. I think this should be at St Helier".
