The Liberal Democrats have today condemned Tory health proposals as "a recipe for disaster."
The comments are in response to today's re-branding of the Tory "Patient Passports" as "Right to Choose". The policy will continue to offer subsidies to those wishing to use the private sector.
Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, said:
"Today's announcement is just corporate re-branding of tired and unpopular Conservative health policies. Their focus on hospitals demonstrates that the Conservatives are obsessed with bricks and mortar rather than making sure that healthcare professionals are able to deliver the right care at the right time and in the right place. Conservative plans for the NHS are a recipe for disaster.
"Healthcare must be brought closer to home by developing Primary Care Services and expanding the roles of nurses, therapists and other healthcare workers.
"The real challenges are to tackle the causes of ill health and ensure that the growing number of people with long term conditions are given the opportunity to take control of their own healthcare."
