Today's recommendation from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) needs more than just Government agreement, it needs Government action to take it forward, Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, said today.
The HFEA said the status quo, which only allows sex selection for strictly medical reasons, should remain.
Paul Burstow MP said:
"This recommendation from the HFEA needs more than just Government agreement, it needs Government action to take it forward.
"Primary Legislation is needed to implement these regulations. But successive governments have shown themselves to be unwilling to provide the political will and Parliamentary time to deal with these important ethical issues."
