Following the passing of the Health and Social Care Bill through Parliament, Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, said:
"By threatening to throw the whole Bill out if their conditions on foundation hospitals weren't met, the Government has acted with contempt for Parliament.
"The Government's handling of this Bill is like the spoilt child who takes the ball home with him when he doesn't get his own way. This is no way to run a serious debate."
Commenting on the leaked press release that the Government were going to issue to foundation trusts in the event of losing the Bill, Paul Burstow MP
said:
"This is a classic example of how ministers micromanage the NHS to the last word."
