Commenting on the new Labour Party pamphlet on the way health and social care should be run that includes contracts for overweight people, but only includes eight paragraphs on the whole of social care, Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Older People said:-
"Ministers and the Labour Party continue to ignore social care at their peril. Health and social care are two sides of the same coin, ignore one and you undermine the other. By paying only lip service to social care policy simply demonstrates the ignorance that many policy makers in Government have of social care in England.
"As Ministers have so little time to put towards looking at innovative solutions for social care problems it is time Government devolved decision making powers to those who know their business and really care about the vulnerable."

Social care merits 8 paragraphs on pages 14 and 15. No new solutions are put forward to tackle the crises in social care - from staff shortages to care home closures to the abuse of vulnerable adults.
