Commenting on the CDNA report that found that abuse of the elderly is widespread, Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Older People said:-
"Will it really take a Victoria Climbie death of an older person before there is action taken to stem the tide of abuse that faces most vulnerable elderly in our society?"
"The Protection of Vulnerable Adults list was launched with much fanfare. However, through the incompetence of the Criminal Records Bureau and the complacency of Ministers all of what was promised has been ditched."
"Without significant investment for the inspection of care homes, adult protection guidance will remain under-resourced, under-performing and under pressure."
