Paul Burstow MP tops table for Parliamentary Questions of London MPs

New figures released by the independent House of Commons library this week show local MP Paul Burstow is top of the league table when it comes to London MPs asking questions of Government.

The figures show that in the last Parliamentary session, Paul Burstow asked more Parliamentary Questions of Government Ministers than any other London MP, and came fourth out of all 659 MPs. The questions included exposing the costs to Sutton of agency nurses, the lack of MS provision of services and the closure of Sutton Magistrate Court.

Paul Burstow said:

"Asking questions of Government is one of the few ways that Ministers are held to account over the work that is done in Government that directly affects the lives of Sutton residents. "

"What's more, asking probing questions in Parliament allows me to raise issues that the residents of Sutton and Cheam are worried about and try and get Ministers to see sense and change policy for the better."

If you are a resident of the Sutton and Cheam constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
